Pre-Diabetes

What Is It?
Pre-Diabetes (or impaired glucose metabolism) is the early stage of diabetes, affecting many adults in Australia. Some will suffer from Impaired Fasting Glucose (IFG) and others from Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT). In both of these conditions blood glucose levels are high but not high enough to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes.

Why Should You Care?
Your condition could lead to Type 2 Diabetes. This makes you more prone to heart disease, PCOS, and Heart Disease. Diabetics can sometimes require amputations due to poor blood circulation, and impotency in males. This can be prevented through a change of lifestyle.

What Are The Symptoms?
The symptoms are the same as for diabetes

What Is The Treatment?
The treatment for pre-diabetes is usually a modification in eating habits and exercise as this will help regulate blood glucose levels and also assist in weight loss.
